How BlendX Auto uses the details, messages and photos you send when you ask for a quote or book a repair. Last updated 1 November 2026.
Who we are
BlendX Auto is run by Jamie Lee Chadwick, a sole trader trading as BlendX Auto. Jamie provides mobile cosmetic paint repairs in Derby and the area within about 20 miles. He is the controller responsible for the personal information described here.
- Email: Blendxauto@gmail.com
- Phone or WhatsApp: 07927 209922
- Post: 29 Broadacre Way, Derby, DE73 6AR, United Kingdom
The postal address is for correspondence only. Repairs are carried out at customers’ homes, and there are no premises to visit.
What we collect
When you ask for a quote, book a repair or pay for work, we may hold:
- your name, phone number and WhatsApp profile name, and your email address if you email us;
- your vehicle’s make, model and registration;
- your postcode and the address where the repair is carried out;
- the messages you send and the photos of your vehicle. Photos can also show your registration, your home or other things in the background;
- details of the quote, the booking, the work agreed (including any extra work you approve by text), invoices and payments.
We accept cash or bank transfer. For a bank transfer we see the name and reference that come with the payment. We never ask for card details.
How we use it, and why
- Replying to enquiries and giving quotes. When you ask for a quote, we use your details to take the steps you’ve asked for before agreeing a repair (the “contract” basis). For general questions that don’t lead to a quote, we rely on our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact the business.
- Carrying out the repair. Arranging the date, doing the work and agreeing any extra work with you (contract).
- Invoices, accounts and tax. Keeping financial records that the law requires (legal obligation).
- Questions, complaints and disputes about the work. Our legitimate interest in running the business and dealing with any problem properly.
- Asking for a review. After a job, Jamie may send you a message asking you to leave a review. This relies on our legitimate interest in getting feedback on work we’ve done for you. Review requests are the only follow-up messages we send: no offers, promotions or service reminders. If you’d rather not receive one, just say, and Jamie won’t ask.
We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising.
Photos of your vehicle
Photos you send are used to assess the damage and give you a quote. Jamie may also take photos to record the work.
Some photos of work may be shown on this website or social media. Before publishing a photo, Jamie obscures number plates and address details, and checks for faces, house numbers, reflections and hidden photo information (metadata). Blurring a number plate doesn’t always make a vehicle impossible to recognise. If a photo could still identify you or your vehicle, it is only published with your recorded permission, or not at all.
If you think a published photo shows your vehicle and you’d like it removed, contact Jamie and he will take it down.
Who can see your information
Only Jamie has access to customer records, using a password-protected device. Some services we use also process information as part of how they work:
- WhatsApp, the main way we talk to customers. Your messages, details and photos are kept in the WhatsApp chat on Jamie’s device, and these chats aren’t backed up. WhatsApp says personal messages are end-to-end encrypted. WhatsApp (provided to UK users by WhatsApp LLC, part of Meta) handles account and usage information under its own privacy policy.
- Sage, which we use for invoices and accounts. Sage processes this information on our behalf.
- Gmail (Google), if you email us. Google LLC provides Google’s services to UK users.
- Hostinger, which hosts this website (see “This website” below).
- Banks, which process bank transfers between you and us.
We only share information with anyone else if the law requires it, for example with HM Revenue & Customs.
Information processed outside the UK
WhatsApp LLC and Google LLC are based in the United States, and WhatsApp says it uses data centres in several countries, including the United States. Hostinger says some of its servers are outside the UK and EEA, and that it uses standard contractual clauses for those transfers. Sage says that where its providers are outside the UK, it uses safeguards such as standard contractual clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum. Each provider explains how it protects information in its own privacy notice.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries, WhatsApp messages and repair photos: up to five years after our last contact with you about a job or enquiry. We delete them sooner if they’re no longer needed, unless we need them longer for a dispute, claim or legal reason.
- Invoices and financial records: for as long as tax law requires. That is normally at least five years after the 31 January Self Assessment deadline for the tax year concerned, so these may be kept longer than the other records.
This website
This website doesn’t set its own cookies or use your browser’s storage, and it has no analytics, advertising pixels or embedded content from other sites. Its fonts are served from this site.
Hostinger, our hosting provider, logs requests to the website (such as IP address, the page requested, date and time, and browser details) to deliver and protect the site. WhatsApp, phone and email links open other apps or services, and their own privacy policies then apply.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or restrict how we use it. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object, and you can ask us not to send a review request. Some rights depend on the circumstances. For example, we may need to keep financial records for tax. We will normally reply within one month, and there’s usually no charge.
To make a request, contact Jamie using the details above.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how your information has been handled, please contact Jamie first. He will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and keep you updated until it is resolved. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If how we use information changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
